TikTok Surpasses Google, Facebook As World’s Most Popular Web Domain

TikTok has become a global phenomenon. In an op-ed for The New York Times, tech reporter Shira Ovide wrote, “TikTok might be rewiring entertainment, giving the next generation of activists new ways to tell stories and challenging the global internet order.” 

It looks like Ovide’s claim is quickly becoming reality. Insights from Cloudflare Radar show the explosive growth and global popularity of the social platform. 

TikTok is not just surpassing other social platforms, in terms of global internet traffic, but is becoming more accessed than Google and its suite of services, including Google Maps and Gmail. 

Cloudflare’s Radar project publishes information on website traffic metrics and other up-to-date internet trends. By the end of 2021, the company’s data showed TikTok.com was the #1 most popular domain. Google.com came in second, followed by…
