BENGALURU: Google Cloud brought together some of the biggest technology names on Thursday as it announced its second cloud region in India, a demonstration of how rapidly cloud is growing and how important India has become as a market for the global cloud players.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, who has been credited with revitalising Google Cloud since he took over the division in January 2019, said India is one of the fastest growing countries for his business globally. Google Cloud’s new cloud region is in Delhi-NCR. Cloud regions are data centres offering a full range of cloud services and solutions. Google had launched a cloud region in Mumbai in 2017. Delhi-NCR will be the 10th region in Asia-Pacific and the 25th globally. The new region will allow Google Cloud customers operating in India to benefit from lower latency and higher performance of their cloud-based workloads and data.
