Google has released its annual “Year in Search” list on Wednesday, offering a glimpse into the top trending search terms of the year, with multiple Disney films and Disney+ Originals making the top 10 lists in the movie and film categories.
Overall, Marvel Studios has been extremely successful this year, with “Eternals”, “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”, and “Black Widow” being some of the most searched movies of the year. It also helps that many of these films contain Easter Eggs about other characters within the Marvel universe and also reference one another.
“Jungle Cruise” also made the top ten list in the UK, with “Cruella” also being a hit in the US. While in Canada, “Free Guy” was a popular film”.
Globally, two Marvel Studios made the top 10 most searched shows of the year, “Loki” and “WandaVision”. However, not one Disney+ series made the top 10 list in the UK, showing how British TV viewing habits are different from the US, which was dominated by Netflix shows.
