Google is one of the largest companies on earth, but it always hasn’t been that way. I remember when the search engine first debuted, and when I first started using it.
It made searching the internet easy. Before finding Google, I used multiple search engines to find what I needed.
Searching put Google on the map, and it has grown so much. Today, it does so much more than I could talk about in one of my columns. From searching to phones, Google does it all when it comes to technology.
You might think that when a company tries to do too much, it isn’t excellent at any single thing. I haven’t found that to be the case with Google. I still use it as the only search engine, as it is still by far the best one available.
Today, though, I wanted to mention some of the different types of information you can get from Google. There are things you might not know you can do from its simple user interface.
Weather – Type weather, followed by a ZIP code, or city and state, to get the current weather conditions and forecast.
Reverse phone number lookup – If you want to find the address or name that corresponds to a phone number, type in the full phone number. Google does a pretty good job finding that information.
Definitions – Type define, then the word for which you want to find the definition.
Calculator – If you type in a math problem, Google will give you the answer.
