This class will begin with the basics by looking at how you can write a program in either JavaScript API or Python software, but then will focus on using Python by looking at the basic syntax and statements you’ll need in most programs and discovering how to debug your Python programs. The class then will dive into Fusion 360 software’s programming interface where its core principles are described and demonstrated. Finally, we’ll discuss the more advanced topic of creating custom commands.

This class will try to give an introduction to the new features within Fusion 360 software regarding electronics cooling simulation. A real model can be simplified in Fusion 360, and then taken through the whole workflow of setting it up, running simulations, and analyzing results. The class will also capitalize on the other capabilities from Fusion 360, to combine the design optimization with Fusion Mechanical simulation and Generative Design in Fusion 360.

This class will discuss how to get the most out of Fusion 360 sketching. Sketching is where your design starts. The success or failure of your design depends on having good sketches. This can be a challenge in any CAD software. We'll discuss some techniques that will help you have a better sketching experience in Fusion 360. We will include subjects such as making a stable sketch that can be edited reliably, using splines effectively, managing sketch performance, sketching in 3D, and more. We'll spend a little time discussing why some of these techniques are effective by examining the inner workings of Fusion 360. We'll also discuss some future plans for Fusion 360 sketch. At the end of this class, you'll have a better understanding of how sketches work in Fusion 360, and how to use them to their best potential.

Being able to connect your 3D design data inside Inventor software to other downstream workflows is a critical part of collaborating inside and outside your organization. This course will focus on connecting Inventor to Fusion 360 software with the new Send to Fusion 360 tool inside Inventor 2022. Some example workflows we will demonstrate will include sharing your Inventor data with an outside stakeholder for CAM toolpath creation inside of Fusion 360; maximizing generative design on a part created inside Inventor; running simulation tools inside Fusion 360 on Inventor components; and creating high-quality visualizations inside Fusion 360 of your Inventor parts and assemblies.

We will be focusing on the 2 methods that Fusion 360 uses to design a multiple-component assembly. Additionally, you will learn how to incorporate motion into this design once you've fully assembled and constrained it. For you existing Inventor users, we will discuss the similarities and differences to help you make the transition.

Fusion 360 software is not like other CAD tools when it comes to positioning components in an assembly. There are no mates here. Fusion 360 has a different model for putting components together. It uses Joints to both position components and describe their motion. This class will help you to make sense of Joints in Fusion 360. Starting with the foundational concepts of assembly, degrees of freedom, positioning, and motion, we will progress into the deeper topics of flexible subassemblies, the behavior of grounded components, and so on. We will describe the various joint types that can be used in your model, and scenarios where they are applicable. We will attempt to demystify assembly modeling in Fusion 360. Virtually sit down (or stand up—it's up to you!) with two Fusion 360 modeling experts and senior members of the Fusion 360 development team.
